Hey there!

I’m Chana Ganz, a Family Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse and Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor.

I spent my teens and 20’s buried under diet magazines, cabbage soup, and misery. I yo-yo dieted my way through college, and came out weighing no less than I did when I started. I was tired. I was frustrated. My mind and my body were at odds with one another, and I felt completely stuck in a system and culture that failed me time and again.

There was a definitive moment when I decided I’d never go on a diet again. And with that relinquishing (and subsequent mourning), I started my journey in becoming an intuitive eater. As most journeys go, it was neither simple nor quick. But it was the only method that offered real freedom with food and a sustainable way of relating to my body.

As a Family Nurse Practitioner, I would frequently tell my patients who struggled with their weight to ‘go on a diet’ or ‘lose a few pounds’. I knew I was misguiding them, as the diet culture hadn’t helped me gain physical, mental or emotional health. In an effort to guide both myself and my patients more efficiently, I decided to become a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor. With that, I began to address the topic of food and eating with kindness, with compassion. With relevance to what’s actually lurking underneath the obsession with food.

I believe that we were all once intuitive eaters. I believe that there was a period when we looked at our plates, ate a bite of a carrot, a bite of a cookie, decided we were full and ran off without a second thought. I believe those intuitive cues are still there, albeit buried underneath years of diet culture, societal pressure, misinformation, you name it.

I help my clients find those cues again. Using the Intuitive Eating framework, we re-discover satisfaction, respect our hunger, honor our fullness, fall in love with food again and become comfortable in the bodies that so graciously host us.
